"I started designing when I was about 13 and like most of the designers I know, I got my big break the day I started making clothes for my little sisters Barbie dolls. But it wasn't until recently I started taking it more seriously. One of the major steps I took, actually started off by accident. I stared making these really cool bow ties for myself, and posting them on Instagram. So eventually I started selling them to create a buzz around the city, and it worked. A few months later, a friend of mine was asked to perform in Canada on New Years Eve with Gospel signer, Tye Tribbett, and she wanted me to make her a dress. It was a simple white, floor length dress with a plunging neck line and a high slit. It was super cute, and it was also the first dress I've ever made. Pictures surfaced online, and the orders started rolling in. Fast forward two years and here I am today, fresh off the debut of my first collection." - Onyx Taylor

Q: What separates your clothing from other designs that we have already seen?

A: What separates Onyx By Onyx Taylor from other brands, definitely has to be my design techniques. All of my designs are very urban based but has that much need chic and high fashion flare added. I generally think about who the Onyx By Onyx Taylor customer is and what he or she looks for when shopping.

Q: Is your clothing affordable & if so, how's the quality?

A: Definitely affordable. We all love our labels, but every good quality piece doesn't always have to break the bank. Construction quality is always my number one priority. No one wants to walk around in a half sewed garment, do they? lol

Q: Have you ever styled any celebrities or has Onyx been seen on a global platform?

A: Most of the styling work I've done thus-far have been mainly local. I've partnered with quite a few Philadelphia based singer and rappers for local events, as well as, mixtape and album covers, etc. But I definitely can't wait to take the label and the brand to a global level.

Q: How did you come up with the name Onyx & what does it mean to you?

A: Whoo! Long story, short...

I adopted the name Onyx Taylor in 2011. I've always been fascinated with the Onyx stone and all it represents. And in many ways, to me it represents the Onyx By Onyx Taylor brand. Inner strength, focused attention, willpower and self-mastery, that's who the Onyx Taylor customer.

Q: Would you ever style QueenCrosswire?

A: MOST DEF!!! I love a person that's not afraid to go there with fashion. Fashion is meant to have fun with and express ones creativity. We would make beautiful magic together, darling.

Q: How versatile is the Onyx clothing, is it for men or women, young or old, classic or street wear?

A: Versatility is key. I design for both male and female, and I can definitely see pieces between the two being mixed within the opposites wardrobe. Anyone between, 18 to 45 can pull off a Onyx Taylor number. Age is definitely nothing but a number. I identify the brand as a urban chic, high fashion, street wear brand. Think; Givenchy, very trendy and out of the box. Dress it up or dress it down, either way you'll definitely make a statement.

"I personally want to thank QueenCrosswire for the opportunity. It really means a lot. And a very special Thank You to my publicist, De'onté Scott for SOAR Inc." - Onyx Taylor
